With the revival of the Transformers franchise in the US due to Beast Wars, considered to be one of the best Transformers series ever, Japan released the newly translated and dubbed version as Beast Wars Metals series with a few minor changes and the release of the Beast Wars Tranmetals toyline to Japan.

With new hybrid alternate modes that combined both organics and technology, the Transmetals were born. Beast Wars Metals continues the Beast Wars story and the war between the Cybertrons and the Destrons. Inferno is armed and ready to destroy the Cybertrons in his various modes; fire ant mode, drill vehicle mode, and robot mode. Inferno is reproduced straight from the Hasbro Beast Wars Transmetals Scavenger with all the accessories which can be hidden in their animal mode including his working drills. Interestingly enough, Hasbro's version, Scavenger, is an unused concept of Transmetals Inferno originally but was renamed to Scavenger instead, therefore, Scavenger and Inferno are pretty much the same character.
